Leeds musician spumspumman has announced that his debut album ‘Three Days on a Tricycle’ will be released on the 24th March via Tireless Idealist. The self-produced album will feature 12 tracks including ‘Anatomy Factory’ – releasing 17th February.
The 90s influences of Beck, Elliott Smith and Sonic Youth are hard to ignore on ‘Three Days on a Tricycle’, with spumspumman’s experimental lo-fi production sensibilities sounding like a breath of claggy air in today’s clean & pristine sonic landscape.
The album’s initial single ‘Anatomy Factory’ flits from a clean, sombre verse to a distorted, jarring chorus with an ilk of Nirvana’s ‘In Utero’, transitioning to a wavy, psychedelic bridge that would fit more neatly into The Vine’s back catalogue. Lyrically, ‘Anatomy Factory’ provides an introverted look into the personal makeup of spumspumman, introducing anxious and paranoid lyrical themes that can be expected throughout the rest of the album.

Very promising rock band. I like that the singer's delivery remains cool and commanding even when the band gets thrashy. Like Shirley Manson of Garbage fronting a punk-metal band. Would probably appeal to fans of Wolf Alice, Moaning Lisa and Doe. Art Fin

The right mix of distortion and aggression, with enough pop sensibilities to keep things catchy makes for an incredibly fun listen. Copped the vinyl and it was worth every penny. markisdead
The songs on the latest from Absolutely Free feel as expansive as a cloudless sky, with ringing guitars and bright-eyed melodies. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 25, 2021

Great voice, great lyrics, hell of a songwriter. Not my usual style but I can imagine covers of these tunes in many genres of music - That's how you know it's QUALITY xx eclecticsheep
